Christmas Day!

Christmas Eve we went to Grandpa Jim and Grama Nina's house to exchange gifts with the Twiddy family. Both the boys were anxious to play with the train and open presents with their cousins. Christmas morning was so much fun...it was worth the lost sleep and anxiety. Cooper's biggest surprise and smile came when he recieved a new Scooby Doo DVD.

LJ really liked his new Football Piggy Bank. We had to transfer ALL his "money's" as soon as possible.

Of course, no Christmas would be complete without a new truck. We now have 2 Mack truck's, one for each boy...hopefully the fighting will stop.Around 2 we decided it was time to get ready for the day and head up to Grama Pam & Grampa Daves house for more presents, and a yummy primerib dinner.

We were sure blessed with wonderful gifts and clothes, and an awesome Zoo pass. Thx, Mom & Dad. Logan was such a trooper. He hadn't had a nap all day and was the sweetest little man, here he is taking a rest in the middle of the floor.

Christmas 2008

Merry Christmas everyone! It sure has been a fun filled eventful year! Looking back on our blog we sure had some great times with our friends and family. May we all make room for the Savior in our hearts not only at Christmas, but throughout the New Year!

I want to see Santa.....NOT!

Logan was walking around all morning, saying " Santa, Santa!" I asked him if he wanted to go and see Santa and he said, uh-huh, yes. I thought a nice picture of the boys sitting with Santa would make a great Christmas card picture. So we got the boys all clean and dressed up more than usual, but not too over dressed, and headed down to see Santa. Logan was excited to see the really big tree, which he pointed to and called, Santa! Everything with Christmas decorations is related to Santa...according to LJ. Anywho, we stand in line for about 20 minutes, okay I stood in line for 20 minutes while James walked around with LJ & CT. It's finallly our turn to see Santa when the following sequence of events unfold.

1-CT refuses to take off his coat. 2- LJ freezes and clinches to Daddy. 3- CT walks right pass Santa, not even glancing his way. 4- LJ wants daddy to hold him, daddy tries to put LJ on Santa's lap, LJ starts screaming and clinging to daddy. 5-Cooper is helping himself to a candy cane. 6- Mommy gets out the camera to get any shot she can. 7- LJ is persuaded to give Santa a hug, while daddy is still holding him and mommy clicks the pix. (Which looked okay at the time, but was later discovered to be fuzzy.) 8- Cooper is persuaded to give Santa a high five.

9- We say thank you and we leave.

Oh and did I mention this all happened in less than 2 minutes?

Next year we'll go to see Santa from a distance. At least we got pictures with Santa at Cooper's party.

Pre-K Christmas Party

This morning was Cooper's class Christmas Party. It was similiar to our Halloween party, as we did lots of crafts. We even had a special visit from Santa. MacKenzie walked right up to him no problems, she's not shy. Cooper and Logan on the other hand needed a little time to warm up. They wouldn't sit on his lap, so I put a chair next to the big guy in red, and things were much better. I couldn't choose which picture to put up for Cooper, so I decided on both. Once in his chair, Cooper and Santa had a good laugh together and talked about what Cooper wanted for Christmas. Cooper whispered something, and told Santa not to tell. I'll have to email him later to find out what he said. Logan would NOT go near Santa without me. I told him that Santa passed Mama's background check. So, here we are talking with Santa together. Logan gave him High 5's and even a hug. It's nice to know I'm still needed for somethings.
MacKenzie asked Santa for some Real make-up and a new baby stuffed elephant.
Lot's of crafts to do....Cooper was working on his frosting tree,
(Cooper finished project.) while Logan took a chance to do some watercolor painting. MacKenzie went to work on some foam ornaments.

The class got together to sing "We wish you a Merry Christmas." They used instruments to keep the beat. Logan was off stealing cookies and juice.

Once the marching started Logan joined the whole group.
And finally one last picture with Santa.

Once again we had a good time and made lots of new crafts.

Our Charlie Brown Christmas Tree!

When James and I were first married my mom gave us this little tree, for our even smaller apartment. I let my wonderful mother-in-law use it after we got our big tree. (I prefer artifical to real). Last year I didn't want to put up a Christmas tree. Logan was crawling and I was going to through a claustrophobic stage with our apartment. It would have cluttered our living room. The thought of having it in our apartment again this year, made me cringe. No, I'm not a Grinch, I just don't have any room. So this year my mother said, "You have two little boys, you need a tree." Fortunately, Grama Nina still had this one and let me have it back. It's the right size and it already has lights on! Today, mom asked me if I put up our tree. I responded by saying,

"Yup, it's sitting on my dining room table."

I had forgotton the joys of a tree. Especially to children. The minute I put the tree on the table and plugged it in, Logan's little eyes lit up, and Cooper was beaming ear to ear. I wasn't able to take any pictures of the decorating, but Cooper and Logan were my big helpers and they did an awesome job.

When James came home from hunting he was thrilled to see a Christmas tree for the first time in 2 years.
